IMS finds itself in good company in the current issue of Fortune Magazine, joining such industry leaders as Apple, Microsoft, GE and Johnson & Johnson as one of “America’s Most Admired Companies.” In a survey of industry peers, IMS ranked second in the “Health Care: Pharmacy and Other Services” category of this annual report card on corporate reputations.
Each year, Fortune partners with Hay Group, a global management consulting firm, to compile the benchmark survey. They start with the FORTUNE 1000 – the largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue – and the top foreign companies operating in the U.S. These companies are sorted by industry, and the 10 largest firms are selected in each category. Hay then asks executives, directors and analysts to rate the companies in their respective industries. In this year’s survey, more than 3,700 individuals participated, and a total of 622 companies in 65 industries were rated on eight criteria:
-
Quality of management
-
Quality of products and services
-
Innovation
-
Long-term investment value
-
Financial soundness
-
People Management: Ability to attract, develop and keep talented people
-
Social responsibility
-
Use of corporate assets
On the magazine’s Web site, Fortune’s editors commented, “This year’s winners all have strong records of innovation, leadership and financial strength – and their employees know it.”
“We’re proud to be recognized as an industry champion by our peers,” says Dave Carlucci, chairman and CEO. “The great work of our teams worldwide — who are making a difference every day for clients, shareholders and each other — is reflected in the Fortune survey. This recognition demonstrates that our strategy and commitment continue to be a winning combination in the marketplace.”
